4 Of George Michael’s Most Generous Acts Of Kindness Revealed

Although George Michael may have been a household name, due to his feel good anthems such as “Faith” and “Freedom”, the late singer also touched people’s lives on a personal level.

Did you know that Michael regularly volunteered at a local homeless shelter or that he was the only star on the celebrity version of “Who Wants To Be A Millionaire”, who pledged to donate his own money to his chosen charity, if he failed to give a right answer and lost his prize pool.

Four of George Michael’s most generous acts of kindness:

1. Tipping a waitress 5000 pounds

When Michael found out that his waitress was a student nurse, who was struggling to keep afloat due to crippling debt, Michael generously handed his stunned waitress a tip worth 5000 pounds. Enough to clear the young nurse’s debt.

2. Paying for a stranger’s IVF treatment

When a contestant on the popular game show “Deal Or No Deal”, failed to reach her target prize goal, in order to fund her next round of IVF treatment, Michael anonymously donated 15,000 pounds to fund the woman’s treatment. At the time, the lucky lady had no idea that it was Michael who helped fund her dream of becoming a mom as Michael donated the lump sum, by ringing the producers at “Deal or No Deal”.

3. Donating the royalties from two of hit tracks

Whilst you would have had to live under a rock to avoid hearing “Last Christmas” or “Everything She Wants”, you may be unaware that Michael chose to donate the ongoing royalties from both tracks to Ethiopian famine relief.

4. Donating George Lennon’s piano to the Beatles Story Museum

When the piano which George Lennon composed “Imagine” on came up for sale, Michael purchased the piano for 1.45 million pounds, so that he could gift it to the Beatles Story Museum. Michael believed that the piano was a treasure which shouldn’t be kept locked away in a private collection and which should be shared with the public.
