There are many ways to sabotage your eating when you begin a diet and exercise program. I have been there, and done that. You begin, thinking that if you reduce your caloric intake and exercise hard, you will lose the weight and keep it off. We set our standards too high. If you have 60 pounds to lose, don’t start out with the assumption that you will lose all 60 pounds within say, three months. Start out slowly and concentrate on losing only 5 or 10 pounds. No matter what, at the end of that 5 to 10 pound loss you will feel better. Then you will have the energy and motivation to take on another 5 to 10 pounds.
Number 2: Only foods that have been organically grown have the necessary nutrients our bodies need in order to feel fuller longer.
Go to your cupboards and refrigerator, and throw away any food that is processed or has ingredients that you can not pronounce. Instead, purchase organically grown products. you will be amazed at the difference.
Number 3: You do not need to exercise 7 days a week.
You should, again, start out slow. Walk around the block. Use the treadmill for 5 minutes. After a while you can increase the amount of time you spend doing fitness activities. You need to approach it gradually or you will get sick of it fast. Keep the activities to 3-5 times per week.
Number 4: You do not need to purchase diet food in order to lose weight.
This is an important fact that, if followed, will help anyone lose weight. The chemicals and additives in diet food does more harm than good. They do nothing to teach your brain to eat healthier, and they reinforce the idea of a “diet” which can be frustrating.
Number 5: Taking diet pills and diet supplements can be dangerous.
Try not to give in to the pharmaceutical companies deception that diet pills work. They don’t. They can harm more than help, aside from the fact that you are wasting precious cash.
